Mercury Marine/Brunswick – Product Manager Engines

Our partner, Brunswick Marine in EMEA LLC., is the European subsidiary of the Brunswick Corporation and is positioned as the largest boating company in Europe.

Specialized in the distribution of outboard (Mercury Marine)), inboard (and electric) marine engines, marine accessories, water sports accessories, the company is based in Petit-Rechain which represents the EMEA headquarters.

In EMEA Brunswick Marine is partnering with its branches spread over Europe, UAE & CIS. The company is having a large number of distributors and dealers.

The EMEA headquarter located in Petit-Rechain employs more than 230 workers and is looking for 1 (m/f) Product Manager for the Engines division.

YOUR MISSION

The objective of this mission is to manage the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers.

Otherwise, you define and maintain the model offering for EMEA: OB (outboard engines), MerCruiser, Mercury Diesel, Motorguide.

As a Product Manager, you maintain knowledge of existing product (including competition), identifies product requirement and market opportunities by working closely with customer base to identify key needs and appropriate product solutions.

Within the department, you supervise and coordinate 1 Product Specialist and you collaborate closely with him.

Reporting to VP Sales & Marketing Mercury EMEA, your key responsibilities are to:

  • define a product price positioning target in consideration of performances vs competitors and sales targets
  • develop interface with engineers, designers, suppliers and customers to develop product requirements and specifications
  • prepare and coordinate product introductions and updates to the field on a timely manner
  • communicate product vision, target market, competitive information, detailed description of product features and benefits
  • prepare business cases for EMEA regional product request and review HPPD

(high performance product development) functional requirement for new developments

  • take decisions for all product related questions raised by Fond du Lac. Support in providing all details to Product Category (volumes, average pricing, statistical data, margins, etc.).
  • Manage the life cycle of the product for EMEA: from product launch to growth to maturity; decline and deletion
  • Participate in Product Surveys process for new products

Furthermore, you maintain a database with legal/regulatory requirements, and you provide Fond du Lac Regulatory management with all required information (volumes of emission levels, special noise regulations…).

You assist the Product Specialist in providing internal and external training if required or in developing adequate education material to ensure that all relevant BME personnel and ultimately all BME dealers, distributors and OEM’s (original equipment manufacturer) have appropriate knowledge of the product features and benefits.

In Marketing targets:

You customize all product information from Fond du Lac to EMEA (sales brochures, press releases, website content, product APP).

You represent the product at sales conferences, press meetings, product testing with press, comparative testing and dealer meetings if required.

You provide technical information and copy writing assistance and directions for digital and hardcopy literature to ensure for appropriate content supporting the marketing team.

Also, you maintain up to date the product catalogues, sales literature, POS (point of sales) and boat show material, press packages, training materials for the sales force.

YOUR PROFILE

Technical Master or bachelor and a practical knowledge combined with interest in technical, an experience in the field of engines is an important plus.

Ability in dealing with cultural diversity, good communication and interpersonal skills.

Attention to detail, proactive initiative to accomplish goals and objectives.

Generates innovative solutions in work situations, analytical problem solving, structured and well organized.

Customer oriented, good presentation/training skills.

Very good knowledge in computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), comfortable creating databases.

Flexible, you are available to travel internationally (Europe mainly) to visit dealers, trade fairs (20/25% time/y).

English (both written and conversational) at advanced level. Any other European language is an asset
